Hey, I would like to use a few of your sprites for my games, especially the creepypasta ones, although the games may not revolve around the creepypasta story of these characters. I mainly want to make good guys fighting demons that look like psychos. The games will most likely be used on a commercial level, meaning I might charge people for some of my games. Is it okay to use them in this regard? Or can I only use them for free games? If it's okay, I would also like add your name to my in game credits. I'm using my own 3d top down engine, not RMXP. Is it okay to use for my engine or does it have to be for RMXP? Do you have a full set with all four animated directions of this sprite or is it just for icons?
1. I was thinking mostly on using these sprites for free games. If you use other people's work and make money with your game using their resources... well, I think you should give part of that money to those who made stuff you used on your game(s).
2. If you use my sprites, you have to mention where you took them from. Also, I'd like a link to the project so I could play it 'v'
3. Well, you can use them or more programs than RMXP (I use them for flash sprite animations too aside from icons and RPG games), but I'm not sure if sprited characters will look well on a 3D engine '-'
4. Yes, I do. Here: lagoon-sadnes.deviantart.com/a… Maybe one of these days I'll start making diagonal sprites to be able to make them walk in 8 directions. At least, I'll do it with my OC's sprites.
Well, if the game does well and actually makes money which is easier said than done, then I would most probably like to work with the people I use resources from and pay them because I'm on my own with my project. I can't sprite or do textures. I just like building the engine and working on gameplay and story elements. I live in South Africa and the local gamedev community isn't on the same creative or hobby level as overseas.
So, if you're interested maybe you could design more specialized sprites for games I make in future. That's if you're interested. I can email you some screenshots of what I'm working on currently if you want. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how it looks with sprites. I use sprites from Sithjester and just needed more variety. She doesn't do requests, so that's why I'm looking here as well.
8 directional sprites would be great as my games movements are 8 directional. Let me know what you think
Well, I'm trying to create an action RPG type game involving humans and possibly elves, but futuristic fantasy rather than medieval fantasy. I wanted a new look and feel for the old Final Fantasy top down games, so I wrote an engine to create a more 3d type environment with real time lighting, but simple to work with that blends in nicely with sprites. The battles will be real time and challenging, rather than turn-based although I will most probably do a turn based game as well in order to travel and fight as a party. Think of a top-down shooter meets retro Final Fantasy meets Unreal Tournament(because of the smartish and accurate enemies that are good at pathfinding their way to your location. A trick I learned from Pac-Man) with a solid story and solid gameplay with unique visuals.
I have other ideas for future projects using the same engine and sprites including a zombie, vampire and a demon hunter game.
This story for this current project hasn't been finalized, mainly so that I can trademark the name first and register it under a business name, but it will start the player off infiltrating an enemy base/stronghold and destroying a clone spawning device that works with magic and futuristic technology. This will be a pilot game consisting of three bigish levels to introduce the player to the new style of gameplay and the game itself. RPG elements will be basic for now. The future of this game will then see scripted events and deep story telling while maintaining gameplay of the pilot game as you do missions/quests.
I know it's a bit vague, but I've never tried something like this before and I will put it together as I go along. I have some screenshots of the gameplay if you're interested in looking.
